Reversible Compactors

A reversible plate compactor works forward, backward and on the spot without the operator turning the machine, which is what makes it the standard choice for trench work, deep lift sub base and any application where a forward plate can’t be manoeuvred or can’t reach density.

Taman stocks Mikasa and Turner Morris reversible compactors from 160kg through to the 500kg class, in petrol and Yanmar diesel. Every machine is supported by parts and in house servicing from our Belmont workshop, with delivery Australia wide.

Reversible plate selection is driven by trench width, lift depth and the compaction specification you’re working to. Heavier isn’t automatically better an oversized plate in a narrow trench is unusable.

150–160kg class – the trench workhorse. Plate width suits standard service trenches, with enough centrifugal force for meaningful lift depth. Available in Honda petrol and Yanmar diesel.

240–350kg class – sub-base, road base and larger backfill areas where coverage rate and deeper lifts matter.

420–500kg class – road construction, bridge approaches and heavy civil work with the deepest lift capability in the range.

Petrol (Honda GX) – lower purchase price, lighter, simpler servicing, parts available everywhere. Suits contractors running one or two machines and owner-operators.

Diesel (Yanmar L-series) – lower fuel consumption over long duty cycles, longer service intervals and better suited to sites with diesel-only fuel policies or mine-site requirements. The higher up-front cost pays back on machines that work full shifts. Diesel is also the default for hire fleets.
