Ride On Grinders

Once a floor gets big enough, the limit on production stops being the machine and starts being the operator. Ride on grinders take the operator off the handles and out of the dust stream, holding a consistent pass rate across a full shift instead of tailing off through the afternoon.

Ride on or walk behind?

A walk-behind machine is the right tool up to a point. It is cheaper, it fits through a standard doorway, and on anything under a few hundred square metres the setup time on a larger machine cancels out the coverage advantage.

Past that, the maths changes. A ride on covers more ground per pass, holds even head pressure without the operator leaning on it, and keeps going at the same rate in hour eight as it did in hour one. On warehouse, distribution centre and car park slabs the machine pays for itself in labour hours before it pays for itself in coverage rate.

Remote control operation

Every machine in this range can be driven from a remote as well as from the seat. That matters in two situations: working close to walls and columns where sightlines from the seat are poor, and running in enclosed or low-clearance areas where you would rather not have the operator sitting in the dust cloud. The remote also lets one operator manage hoses and cables while the machine keeps grinding.

Power and dust extraction

Ride on machines pull serious current — plan the supply before the machine lands on site. Match the extractor to the machine as well: undersized extraction is the most common reason a large grinder underperforms, because the heads end up grinding through their own spoil rather than into the slab.
